GLYCEMIC GLUCOSE & DIGESTIVE SUPPORT

LUCUMA is traditionally used to stabilize blood sugar levels and support glucose regulation and glycemic index, which is crucial for diabetic dogs and cats and overall cellular health.

A 2009 report in the Journal of Medicinal Food indicates that LUCUMA fruit consumption might help manage diabetes and high blood pressure.

The report’s authors reviewed preliminary findings and concluded that the antioxidants in LUCUMA could benefit people and pets with these conditions.

The same study noted LUCUMA’s potential heart benefits due to its high content of antioxidant polyphenols and carotenoids, which are known for their anti-inflammatory, cancer-fighting, and heart health properties.

LUCUMA is rich in both soluble and insoluble fiber, which can improve stool quality and support healthy elimination for dogs and cats suffering from constipation.

LUCUMA’s soluble fiber may also promote a healthy gut microbiome by feeding beneficial bacteria and producing short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) like acetate, propionate, and butyrate.

These SCFAs are vital at the cellular level in the gut, potentially protecting against inflammation and aiding conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis.

For dogs and cats struggling to gain or maintain weight, LUCUMA may offer therapeutic benefits as a source of healthy, unrefined carbohydrates, providing energy especially for senior or immune-compromised pets.

LUCUMA contains more calcium than milk, supporting bone health and nerve function.

It is also rich in beta-carotene (an anti-carcinogen), zinc, iron, vitamin C, niacin (B3), fiber, and 14 essential trace minerals often missing in pet diets.

Additionally, LUCUMA nut oil may accelerate wound healing.

A 2010 animal study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that compounds in LUCUMA nut oil helped speed up wound closure and skin regeneration.
